The Dukan Diet Really Works

144.6
Wow. I can't believe how fast the weight drops on this diet. It is kind of upsetting in that I wish I had known about this diet earlier. I can't believe it isn't more popular in the States. It's as if no one has heard of it over here, or if they have it seems the impression is that it's dangerous. It's funny how so many people struggle with their weight and how hard it is to take it off, but when you find something that works and isn't mainstream, everyone is all concerned about your weight loss and how it's unhealthy. Like ooohhh.... It's not okay to go under 1200 cal a day, oh that's so bad, "my fitness pal" will reprimand you saying your eating too little, or you need your carbs for your brain to function, better eat your whole grains and do it in 6 small meals a day.... Sure. Well that's fine if eating 1 serving of refined carbs didn't trigger my appetite to go on and eat 5 more. It seems the mainstream view here is that if you want to lose weight, that's great, you must do in in the preapproved way, still shopping from inside the market isles, eating smaller portions of all the same stuff that made you fat in the first place, without the use of any appetite suppressants, and eating not too much, but of course eating not too little either... I mean how hard it that??? Well at least it is for me.

My weekend

147.2 :(
Which is funny because I feel much thinner today. But I guess it is reflective of my weekend. I wasn't totally bad in that I didn't pig out and eat large quantities (in fact I feel like I was quite in control of quantity, just not quality) but I guess it wasn't Dukan so that's what I get. I see the real problem here is my hubby + my poor resolve = bad Dukan day. Unfortunately he will never get on the diet boat with me and continually brings sweets, baked goods, donuts and ice cream into the house. Which is of course my weakness. I do relatively well resisting the carbs such as chips and pizza and whatnot (minus this weekend when I was starved and out with fam), but the creamy sugary treats are what I end up giving in to at the end of the day. Well today I am going to stock up on the ff Greek yogurt which will hopefully help me out. I hope I am not discouraging to anyone reading this and seeing my poor willpower... Well by tomorrow I hope little one and I should be at the tail end of our sickness, so I think we'll be able to make it back into the gym.
Sat
Chicken, red peppers, spring mix, tomatoes, olives, mushrooms, pizza......

Ice cream returns

145.6
Is the scale broke? Can't beleive I didn't gain after my icecream... Boy it is so hard for me to get off the icecream. Something I saw on Dr. Oz sticks with me so maybe that's why I allow myself... It was something about hunters vs. gathers, and it turns out I am a hunter - hunters whole thing is they do better with protein vs. carbs, they may not be hungry for breakfast (which I never am) and should not force themselves to eat it, and they do better with some time spaced between their meals. Versus gathers who can eat carbs and do better grazing all day. So icecream is a good mix of fat and protein which would be an okay treat for hunters... At least that's what the Dr. Oz guy said.

Scramled eggs
Grilled chicken
Spoon of organic pb
NyQuil (of yes, another reason I allowed myself the icecream, figured since I was getting some sugar from this syrup mix a little more for enjoyment should be justified)
Icecream

Today I will be happy to eat some veggies as I think I need the vitamins, since me and the little one are quite sick.

Yay happy day

145.8
Wow. Did a double take. Had to do a reweigh, it came in even lower at 145.4. I don't feel any different, actually I am slightly constipated. Which is odd because I am never constipated after the protein only days. Yesterday I had quite a few veggies. Anyways, that's the first time I've seen that number in about 2 years! Very very happy my diet is working! :)

Grilled chicken
Ff ricotta cheese
Red pepper
Spring mix
Low fat mozzarella
5 cherry tomatoes

Bulked up scrambled eggs

2 eggs
1/2 cup egg whites
Pam

More filling than just 2 eggs and keeps you on track if you are trying to stick to a 2 eggs/ day limit.

Back on track

147.2
Back on track. Had an all protein day yesterday, it was hard but got through it.
Grilled chicken breast with low fat mozzarella
Meatballs
Scrambled eggs
Ff greek yogurt
Low fat ham
What is upsetting is that from tracking my weight daily, I can see one setback puts me back in time and I have to struggle all over again to achieve the loss I already had (prior to my ice cream or wine). Which means I should really learn from this and stop indulging if I want to lose weight and get this over with.
On a positive note, I'm very glad that I am able to maintain a loss well, in that I had lost approx. 5-6 pounds prior to my cruise and was able to generally keep it off, give or take a pound, just by staying away from most carbs. This is an excellent diet for me, I just need more resolve to stop cheating myself here and there with the sugar.

Bad day

148
Big fail. Had too much wine last night so needed carbs...had granola bars and edamame crackers... 148 today. Can believe how accurate this diet works with me... Proper day, weight goes down, transgression, weight goes up. Going to fill up with scrambled eggs for breakfast and try again. Wine is gone too so no more of that!

Finished a sloppy phase 1, onto phase 2

147
So happy i am still losing when I feel like I am not really following the diet so stictly this time. Yesterday had:
Curried chicken
Brussels sprouts
Grilled chicken
Red wine
Cheddar cheese
Ff Greek yogurt
Ff sour cream
At least I'm off the sugar again. If I don't have sugar, it's like I really need some extra fat to keep me satisfied. So today I will start alternating my p and pv days. I have broccoli so will do pv today (even though I had Brussel sprouts yesterday, but it was only a handful). Like I said I feel like I am doing this so lucey-goosey this time, but at least it is still working!

Day 4 Phase 1 - kinda

147.6
So this is day 4 of meat only. It is so hard going this time, maybe I have lost the initial motivation I had the first time around. It's like as if know the diet works and I feel like, well, if this days sucks I can always do it right tomorrow and I will lose then. Anyways, had a little glass of wine last night plus icecream, and I still lost...
Curried chicken
Wine
Icecream
I do notice just eating meat cuts out so many other options and fills me up faster, so I eat less in total all day, which is why maybe I can have some icecream at the end of the day and maybe it's not taking me too much over on calories. It would be good if I tracked my calories again on my fitness pal... It is just takes so much effort. It does seem that no matter what I end up doing, if I am journaling, tracking, or somehow thinking about losing weight, then I do. It's when I forget about it and just go about life normally that I stay the same or gain. So onwards today...

Finally finished Day 1

148.2
Day 2 attack phase
Finally finished day 1 yesterday. Tried to start all week but just couldn't get off the sugar. Did however eat cashews yesterday, which I don't think are on the diet, but needed something to keep me off the sugar. Oh and also some cheddar cheese... So i guess it wasn't exactly Dukan, maybe more Atkins. Had:
2 eggs
8 oz Chicken
Quite a few Cashews
2.5 hamburger patties with cheddar

Gearing up to start my Dukan Diet

So I'm planning to start the Dukan Diet. However I just got back from a cruise and still feel quesey from some food poisoning I got on the ship. Right now the thought of meat is really unappealing... yuck. I think I still need a few more days of carbs before I am ready to eat meat again.
